Good morning, Las Vegas.

We heard the feedback: the emails were getting a little long. So we are trying something new this week with a weekday edition and a weekend edition, which should make everything easier to scan and give us more room to cover the good stuff without turning your inbox into a scroll workout.

In today's Northwest Digest:

  • Restaurant Week is back

  • The Knights are in the Final

  • Global Running Day

Let's get to it.

Bad news is good business. Not everyone buys it.

Every morning, financial news follows the same script. Headlines panic, coverage catastrophises, and somewhere inside the noise is the story that actually matters — the one that tells you where the opportunity sits, not just where the fear is pointing.

Most sources have stopped looking. The alarm is easier to sell.

The Daily Upside was created by Wall Street insiders for readers who crave real insight over recycled anxiety. Five minutes of global business and finance, before the noise sets the agenda — just the facts, context, and analysis your decisions need.

Join 1M readers — including managing directors and principals at some of Wall Street’s largest institutions — who trust The Daily Upside to filter through the chaos.

The upsides are always there. We’ll find them before breakfast.

Restaurant Week Rolls In

Restaurant Week is one of those rare Vegas things that feels useful whether you are a careful planner, a last-minute dinner person, or just someone who likes an excuse to finally try the place you have been saving in your notes app and the best part is that it’s for a good cause.

The annual Three Square fundraiser runs June 1-12, with participating restaurants offering special prix fixe menus and sending a portion of each meal back to Southern Nevada's food bank. The official Restaurant Week site lists menus across the valley, including plenty of west-side and Summerlin area stops, and broader guides have put the participating field at more than 250 restaurants.

That is the nice part is that it can be a date night, a lunch break, or a reason to connect with your friends, but it also turns the usual Vegas dining machine toward a pretty direct local need. Three Square says Restaurant Week has helped provide more than 10 million meals since 2007, which makes the whole thing feel less like a promotion and more like a small civic ritual with dessert.

Start with the official Restaurant Week menus or skim the 250-plus restaurant overview if you want the big picture first.

Quick Hits

The Knights are back in the Final: Vegas advanced after sweeping Colorado in the Western Conference Final, setting up a Stanley Cup Final against Carolina. Game 1 is Tuesday at 5 p.m. Pacific in Raleigh.

The dry streak is doing dry streak things: The airport rain gauge is still the main character here. The Review-Journal noted that parts of the west valley saw sprinkles, but Harry Reid International did not, keeping the official Las Vegas rainless streak near 100 days. So yes, still very much a water-your-plants week.

Water will come one way or another: 40% of Southern Nevada’s water has come from a single pipeline, a recipe for disaster. That is until HR 972 was passed which will install a second pipeline through Sloan Canyon while simultaneously expanding the conservation area.

Artists, this one's timely: Applications for the 2026 Summerlin Festival of Arts are open through Tuesday, June 2. The festival returns to The Lawn at Downtown Summerlin October 9-11.
