Good morning, Las Vegas. I believe someone has left their heater on if you could please turn it off I’d really like summer to start in June, not May. Beyond that we’ve got a great lineup of events for the week and some good news for the valley.

In today’s Northwest Digest:

  • A Record Jump

  • ACM all weekend

  • EDC vibrates the speedway

Let’s get to it.

Golfing for Good

The 2nd Annual Brian Roberts Memorial Golf Tournament will take place on June 6, 2026 at 8:00 AM at Revere Golf Club. This event was created by alumni of the Alpha Tau Omega - Delta Iota Chapter (Reno) to honor the life and legacy of Brian Roberts, a beloved friend, brother, and native Las Vegan.

Proceeds from the tournament go directly toward scholarships for newly initiated members, helping support the next generation of future leaders. In its inaugural year, the event raised $1,500 for a deserving recipient, and organizers are aiming to grow that impact even further this year.

Registration is $250 per player and includes green fees, cart, breakfast, and beverages. Local businesses and community members are also invited to participate through sponsorship opportunities.

Chasing Records

Colby Raha is set to make a record braking attempt jumping over 100 vertical feet over the Caesars Palace Fountains. That has us reflecting about the storied history of daredevils and and their ties to Sin City

Of course our story has to begin with Evel Knievel and his infamous fountain jump. In 1967 he hurled himself across the 140-foot Caesars fountains at 90 mph. He nearly landed it, but was not able to defy physics as his awkward landing resulted in severely broken body, but launched him to world stardom in the process.

In an attempt to outdo Knievel, Gary Well’s would increase the same fountain jump to 180 feet, but would share a similar fate resulting in Caesars Palace to call a cease to fountain jumps.

Casinos are always true to their word so in 1989 they let Robbie Knievel make a 150 foot jump over the fountains, which he successfully executed as his father looked on form the stands. This would launch a string of jumps for Robbie on the strip, including a 231 footer.

Over the next 3 decades we would see backflips from Mike Metzger, New Years shenanigans from and Robbie Maddison, and the most recreation of Evel’s jump done by Travis Pastrana in 2018. Fortunately all of these went off successfully despite minor setbacks and injuries sustained during.

And now in 2026 Colby Raha will mark the 60th anniversary of Caesars and the opening of Omnia Dayclub with this record jump. We wish the twelve-time X-games gold medalist well on his endeavors.

EDC weekend begins. If you’re not familiar with the 3-day festival I would be shocked, but for those unaware the event draws roughly a hundred thousand souls from all walks of life for long nights filled with dancing, heavy bass, and high bpm. The result is a community spreading peace, love, unity, and respect (PLUR) which is amplified by what may or may not be illicit drugs. Whether it’s your first time going or you’re a seasoned vet please be safe, drink water (but not too much), and use ride share or a designated driver. Happy raving! 🧿

Saturday

The first person in line will win free hamburgers for a year, the first 100 will receive free merch, and the first 501 in line will receive a free burger with raffles throughout, although some sources are saying these exact prizes might change. Regardless, you should stop by for one of the best smash burgers in town

In other news. . .

🏘 BLM Sells: The bureau of Land Management sold 108 acres for nearly $70 million in a sale of 13 parcels this past Tuesday. In an interesting twist the former badlands developer has purchased 20.6 acres in the Northwest, no doubt thanks to the windfall from their recent settlement.

🏦 A $300m Refinance: Howard Hughes Corp. has been issued a note that will allow it to keep it liquid and health as it prepares for the latest developments and tenant upgrades.

🏒 Knight Slide: Not wanting to let us fans sleep soundly, the Vegas Golden Knights are playing tic for tac with the Ducks, allowing the series to be tied 2-2. Fortunately that means its our term for a home win this Tuesday night.

🐢 Max the Record Breaker: Besting his previous record for latest appearance set last year, max has finally emerged from his burrow this past Sunday at 12:50pm. This “officially” marks the start of spring and not a moment too soon as we’re more or less prepared to hit triple digits this week.

Adoptable Animal of the Week:

“The previous owner says that he is a very sweet boy.”
