Good morning, Las Vegas. The shortest line between "what's going on?" and a useful answer this week runs through Park Centre Drive. National Night Out puts LVMPD's K-9, SWAT, traffic, and area-command teams in one place Tuesday evening. Bring the question you normally save for the neighborhood group.

In today's Northwest Digest:

  • Meet your area command

  • Pick pumpkins early

  • Watch a Lone Mountain vote

COMMUNITY

Three northwest land cases, one county week

If you live near Lone Mountain or the Red Rock edge, the next two county hearings are the places to watch. None of these items are final until the board acts. Treat them as proposals with a hearing date, not as approvals.

Tuesday, Oct. 6, County Planning Commission. WS-26-0505 asks for a retaining-wall height waiver for Noya LLC near La Madre and Grand Canyon in the Lone Mountain RNP. If you care about wall height along that corridor, this is the first stop. Comments and attendance details are on the Legistar meeting page.

Wednesday, Oct. 7, County Zoning Commission, 9 a.m. Two northwest packages sit on that agenda.

First is the Kang Hye Kyong eight-lot RS20 package west of Ruffian Road and south of Ann Road in Lone Mountain: vacation, waivers, design review, and tentative map. The Lone Mountain advisory council denied the request to eliminate street landscaping and approved two other waivers plus the design review. Residents who want landscaping kept should say so before the commission votes.

Second is the Hafen 1990 Trust package for an agricultural nursery south of Blue Diamond Road and east of Eagle Ranch in Red Rock. County planning already moved related pieces upstream. Neighbors watching rural Red Rock intensity should read the staff packet before Wednesday.

How to weigh in: attend at the Government Center or email [email protected] with the application number in the subject line. Official results were not posted at audit time because the hearings had not finished.
