Good morning, northwest Las Vegas. A coming-soon gym is putting its coaches on The Lawn Tuesday before it opens its doors, which is a more useful preview than a rendering. Then comes a Red Rock tarantula walk Wednesday and a wet Thursday with a blood drive, market and Haunted Harvest to plan around.

Inside: Municipal Gym's outdoor test run, tarantulas at dusk, and the best Thursday plans before the rain gets a vote.

See you out there,

Marlin

COMMUNITY

The Gym Preview Is Outside

Neighbors exercise on mats while a coach leads a free outdoor community workout on The Lawn at Downtown Summerlin.

Municipal Gym has not opened its Downtown Summerlin space yet, but Tuesday gives neighbors the useful version of a preview: one free hour on The Lawn, before a membership pitch has to survive a real workout.

The session runs from 6 to 7 p.m. Bring a mat, towel and water. Spots are limited, and the class is outdoors. Tuesday should stay mostly dry, but anyone committing to three plans this week should save the rain gear for Wednesday night and Thursday.

What makes this more than a fitness promotion is the chance to judge the part a floor plan cannot show. Are the coaches clear? Is the pace welcoming? Would you want to spend an hour with this crowd again? A no-cost class lets a neighborhood answer those questions before a recurring charge appears.

If the hour works for you, treat it like a test drive, not a promise. Register for the free workout →
