Good morning, Las Vegas. Tuesday's Planning Commission agenda runs deep into the northwest: a proposed 147-acre regional park, several Ward 6 housing maps, and a Summerlin clubhouse request all hit the same meeting. None is final yet. If one sits near your street, this is the day to read the item number before someone else tells you what it means.

In today's Northwest Digest:

  • Northwest projects up Tuesday

  • Tarantulas after work

  • Pumpkins before the wind

Tuesday's Wind Is the Real Schedule

A bright mid-century postcard illustration of a northwest Las Vegas neighborhood preparing for a gusty October day, with secured pumpkins, bending desert trees, and the Red Rock ridgeline.

A high near 60 sounds like the October weather we spend all summer waiting for. Tuesday's other number matters more: northwest gusts may reach 39 mph.

That changes an orchard morning, a Red Rock stop, and any yard display held together by optimism. Gilcrease visitors should favor the early hours, bring a layer, and leave loose costume pieces in the car. At home, move the lightweight pumpkins and decorations before the wind makes that decision for you.

Wednesday warms to about 70 but stays breezy, with gusts near 30 mph. Thursday settles down near 73 with gusts around 20. No active NWS alert was posted for the northwest valley when this forecast was checked, but the hour-by-hour wind still deserves a look before an outdoor plan.

The practical version: use Tuesday for plans that can handle dust and gusts, then save the linger-outside schedule for Thursday.
