Roxie and Sophie — snuggle sisters.
Good morning, Las Vegas. October is on the calendar, even if the cool mornings are still negotiating their arrival. Pumpkins are already stacking at Gilcrease, Parade of Mischief lights up Downtown Summerlin this weekend, and Red Rock has early guided walks for anyone willing to set an alarm.
In today’s Northwest Digest:
Gilcrease Fall Harvest + 1 October Memorial Blood Drive
Parade of Mischief, Be My Neighbor Day, and Lee Canyon Oktoberfest
Fall watering reminder + northwest live music
Let’s get to it.

NORTHWEST BRIEFING
Fall watering rules stay in force through Oct. 31. Assigned watering groups may water three days a week in fall; Sunday watering is prohibited valleywide. A good week to reset timers before the calendar gets busier. Details →

CALL THE RIGHT CITY HALL

Before You Call City Hall, Check Which City Hall
The fastest way to lose twenty minutes on the phone is to call the City of Las Vegas about a Clark County problem.
A Las Vegas mailing address does not settle which government serves the property. Large stretches of Lone Mountain and Summerlin South sit in unincorporated Clark County. Other northwest neighborhoods sit inside city limits. The line can cut through the same ZIP code and ignore the name on the subdivision sign.
That boundary decides where you report weeds on a vacant lot, track a zoning case, ask about a permit, or complain about a streetlight that died two weeks ago. City residents have a city council member. County residents have a county commissioner and, in some places, a town advisory board. The wrong office will usually redirect you, after you have already explained the whole story once.
Before you dial, open Clark County’s OpenWeb map, search the street address, and click the parcel. The Jurisdiction field is the answer. The same panel shows zoning, flood notes, and elected districts. If you only need the government name, the regional jurisdiction locator is faster.
Save the result next to your HOA and utility contacts. The next empty lot, permit notice, or planning fight will not wait for you to relearn the map.
Which local office did you assume handled your neighborhood?
