Eight new trips designed for families in search of adventure

Intrepid's new Premium Family trips are the kind you'll reminisce about for years to come. The eight new trips across Borneo, Morocco, India, Costa Rica, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Thailand and Egypt put small groups of families in the hands of Intrepid's most experienced local guides — with feature stays, cultural immersion, and kid-focused activities woven throughout. Stay in an overwater villa in Borneo and plant coral with your kids. Spend a night at a desert camp in Morocco under live Gnaoua music. See the Taj Mahal at sunrise as a family. Intrepid handles all the logistics so you can stay present for the moments that matter, while travelling in small groups of three to five like-minded families.

HISTORY

Our Rich Baseball History

With the Athletics playing their first home games in Las Vegas we thought it fitting to explore the surprisingly longstanding history of pro baseball in the valley

The first pro team to arrive was the Las Vegas Wranglers in 1947. Vegas had a population of just 20,000 at the time and somehow managed to have 2,000 of them attend their first home game. Can you imagine 1/10th of any population attending a single event!?

The next year in 1948 they debuted the original Cashman field and just one year after that hoisted the championship trophy. Just 3 years later they would cease to exist. The Las Vegas Pirates would then emerge for a brief appearance in 1957 before relocating to California halfway through the following year.

There was a long silence until the Triple-A Stars would come to town in 1982 after relocating from Spokane and start play at the new Cashman field in ‘83. The team was an affiliate of the Padres for nearly the next two decades winning a couple of championships in this span.

Following an affiliate change to the L.A Dodgers the team would rebrand as the fan favorite 51s. Their affiliate charter would not be so steady and switched to the Blue Jays for a 3 year stretch before winding down with the Mets, but not before winning back-to-back Pacific Conference Southern Division titles in 2013 and 2014.

And finally a major shakeup brought us the Las Vegas Aviators (a nod to Howard Hughes’ legacy) along with the new Las Vegas Ballpark and affiliation with the Athletics who are now coming to down with their own ballpark in 2028. What a full circle moment.
